What's happening down south James?

I was so excited to look down and see the gold shoes were on his feet as they are one of my favorites! He has another gold pair which are out of this world and you would certainly see them coming! James has teamed these shoes with a great pair of Paul Smith Socks that have a wondrous array of colourful stripes, and I think it is a winning combination. Don't you agree?

Street Spotting

Sunshine on a cloudy day

On a very wet, cold Melbourne day, when you are walking down the street and see someone pass you wearing the most beautiful flowers dangling from their ears- you turn around and try and catch up to them and ask if they mind being photographed.

Definitely the most unique bit of jewellery I have seen, and they look so good on her.

Happy Hump Day!!

Happy hump day readers! Or what we in formal circles call Wednesday! Often this can be a hard day to get through. It's mid week, you still feel like the weekend is a while away and things keep piling up that need to be done. It is all too easy to get caught up in frustrations and stress in life, but not enough time is spent stopping, being still, enjoying your own company and reminding yourself of all the little joys in life that make you happy. I've included a few visual reminders on things that make me happy below.

What are some of the things that make you smile to get you through the day?

Finding that someone has made the time to write a little note of positivity and stick it to an office block building for people to stumble on their way to work the daily grind makes me very happy inside :)

Finding that someone has left the most beautiful flower in front of graffiti in a lane way, matching the colour of the graffiti perfectly...

Discovering the tree you see everyday while waiting for your bus has suddenly produced the most beautiful deep red coloured flowers- revealing a secret of beauty from inside...

Stealing some time in your day to sit on the fake grass, soak up the sun with a good book and forget your cares as you get transported by someones words on a page...

And remembering, that even after what can sometimes appear to be a very dark day, that the sun sets on it and you have the chance to start all over again in the light!

Jeremy Scott for Adidas

When I looked down and saw these shoes on the feet of a former colleague, I immediately asked if I could photograph them. I love how they are a dress shoe- dress in the sense that it is a formal tuxedo/soccer boot! Not sure you would see these on the soccer pitch, but you'd certainly kick goals wearing them!

What's happening down south James?

I have a rather stylish friend named James whom every time I see him, I always look down at his feet and am in awe as I exclaim, "What's happening down south James?" He responds with the most infectious laugh as I proceed to pull up his pant legs to reveal the delightful, often striped colourful socks teamed up with some rather dapper pairs of shoes!

I started photographing them because I thought that it is fantastic to see someone put so much attention to detail on the last part of their outfit. The shoe and sock combination is a great place to show a bit of personality.

So look out for future posts on what's happening down south!

PS: If you are looking for sock inspiration- check out designer Paul Smith for a great place to start.

Look out- I can see the light- finally!

Last Sunday morning I was a little grumpy when I realised that the time was actually an hour later, which meant I really had overslept! Daylight savings had begun! And what a relief- apart from the realisation that I own too many clocks that need changing. But after a good cup of coffee, I felt reborn by the light that was streaming through, and continued to do so for hours. There was a definite shift in the air, and over the coming days you could see people enjoying lounging at outdoor bars and going for a run or walk through the parks. It was as if the winter layers had lifted, and we could all see the light and a positive road ahead. Summer!!

Street Spotting

Walking down the streets of Melbourne, it is hard not to stop every 5 seconds and want to take photos of all the gorgeous and stylish people strolling by. But then I would never end up at my destination as I would be distracted all the time. In this case, I walked past and then stopped, walked back and followed these girls before mustering up the courage to ask them if they would mind being photographed. I was so glad the answer was yes, as it would have haunted me not to have captured their outfits. These lovely ladies were from interstate and very accommodating and it was a delight capturing them for a few minutes for all of you to see and admire.
