Happy Australia Day!
A few months ago, I was presented with the creative challenge
from my friend James to come up with an outfit that he can wear to the APSAS awards ceremony in Queensland, Australia. The theme was Australiana and lucky for me, James is adventurous and allowed me total creative license. I'm not sure even he thought he would end up with a cockatoo coming out of his pocket! But you can't get any more Australian than a cockatoo and a bit of bush flowers and fauna!
Well, Bruce the cockatoo (Yes, he got named Bruce) came out for some fresh air again when the launch of a new exhibition at the National Gallery of Victoria on Australian fashion designer Linda Jackson- Bush Couture was officially launched. Bruce enjoyed lots of attention and pats, and all the women swooned over him. I'm glad he got to come out and play for Australia Day and I hope you too spend the day in a creative way, in fine company, feathered or other kind and celebrate all that makes Australia what it is today.

What's happening down south James?
Every time I meet with my friend James, he knows that I am going to look down at his feet and ask to photograph them. As we stepped outside the cafe, he stood right in front of this beautiful flower. Perfect I thought. I keep finding random flowers left all over the city, so it was great to be able to put his beautiful shoes next to something just as beautiful.
And what do you think of his stunning D&G Moc Crocs (or as he calls them- not crocs) shoes teamed with spotty socks?
A winner I think!

What's happening down south James?
Two weeks ago today I had the pleasure and delight to be invited to the LMFF Launch Campaign by my ever so stylish friend James. He of course didn't let me down arriving in beautiful shorts that attracted a lot of attention on the night- for all the right reasons of course and his spotty Odd Socks that went so well with his divine Burgundy shoes polished ever so nicely. The CEO of LMFF Graeme Lewsey was rather fixated with Jame's attire, and tried to get the press photographer to snap his shoes- but GT was on the case and snapped them up instead for you all to see.

What's happening down south James?
A gift from GT makes it to the feet of dapper James
I was so excited when the other day I got a text in the morning from my lovely friend James to say that he was finally launching the Richard James Savile Row socks I bought for his birthday a few months ago. I felt I wanted to add to his vast and eclectic sock collection, especially since I benefited from photographing them. But I was a little concerned that I had not seen them on his feet as yet. He assured me he loved them, but needed to wait for the right time and outfit to launch them. That only made it more exciting in a way, waiting for that special day when I would finally see them worn. I actually rather like the special emphasis on gifts and wanting to pick the right moment to wear them, it makes the giver feel a bit more special. And here's the end result. What do you think? A good colourful addition to his sock drawer?

What's happening down south James?
I was so excited to look down and see the gold shoes were on his feet as they are one of my favorites! He has another gold pair which are out of this world and you would certainly see them coming! James has teamed these shoes with a great pair of Paul Smith Socks that have a wondrous array of colourful stripes, and I think it is a winning combination. Don't you agree?

What's happening down south James?
I have a rather stylish friend named James whom every time I see him, I always look down at his feet and am in awe as I exclaim, "What's happening down south James?" He responds with the most infectious laugh as I proceed to pull up his pant legs to reveal the delightful, often striped colourful socks teamed up with some rather dapper pairs of shoes!
I started photographing them because I thought that it is fantastic to see someone put so much attention to detail on the last part of their outfit. The shoe and sock combination is a great place to show a bit of personality.
So look out for future posts on what's happening down south!
PS: If you are looking for sock inspiration- check out designer Paul Smith for a great place to start.
