Silvan in the Springtime

The Last Days of Summer
It's sad to think that time really does fly when it is the warmer months. Summer always feels like a blur, whereas Winter seems to drag on forever! Sometimes, it's not until we stop and look back and reflect that we can truly appreciate some good times that were had with the warmth of the sun on your back. With officially only 3 days left of Summer here in Melbourne (although today is a taste of what's to come with grey skies and rain- post heat wave)I thought I would share with you some images of what Summer was for me and hope it gets you thinking about your fun times.
Discovering my favourite thing- spots- on the ground while on a beach trip! Can't beat those two colours together as well!
This Summer I kept finding things on the ground in front of me, like little presents the pavement is trying to give me. This gorgeous flower came on a day I needed an uplift, so it was much appreciated.
On a night walk, I also discovered these discarded thongs on the footpath- the absolute symbol of Summer. I wonder why the wearer chose to go on without them?
This Summer I enjoyed playing with accessories and mixing things up a little. That included my vast nail polish collection, because sometimes the choice on which colour you wish to stare at for at least a week is hard enough- so, why not just add them all!
Rediscovering shoes you bought in the Winter and haven't worn yet,the joy of shopping in your own closet!
Afternoon pick me ups- fresh home made smoothies with striped straws!
Home made berry ice-cream without the guilt you are eating additives. And gluten free! So delicious!
Lazy Sunday brunches of home made pancakes to indulge in with the Sunday papers and fresh coffee, while not having to rush off anywhere on a schedule.
Seeing everything in full bloom, full colour and enjoying watching nature do its thing.
Walks and swims at the beach, breathing in sea air, eating seafood meals and watching the cruise ships roll into town pretending you're in an episode of The Love Boat.
Sensational sunsets that are unimaginable especially after a humid storm.
Learning to find happiness in the smallest things in life.
Enjoying the late afternoon sun before daylight savings disappears.
Discovering an Autumn leaf in front of you, realising that all things must change, including the seasons. And with that...

Street Spotting
When I saw this guy on the street, I thought I had stepped out into another world, for his outfit most definitely stood out in a very unique way that I ran back and started trotting beside him to ask him if he would be photographed.
I love anyone that puts thought and detail into an outfit, and there was so much detail in his, there had to be so many photos taken to capture them all, and each time I looked, I noticed something else.
I love how he has his jacket resting on one shoulder while the sleeve of his shirt is rolled up, giving two different looks.
Even the knot on his bag adds another detail to the outfit.
The white lace adds a softening touch with the gold skull and medallions.
Military style embellishment certainly dresses up an ordinary corduroy jacket.
Love the belt and belt buckle.
Nice touch adding bits of fabric wrapped around the legs contrasting the yellow tights. Funnily enough, I wore yellow tights on the day and he took a photograph of me while taking a photograph of him.
Beautiful flowers which match his shirt really suit him and his vertical hair.

Street Spotting
Sunshine on a cloudy day
On a very wet, cold Melbourne day, when you are walking down the street and see someone pass you wearing the most beautiful flowers dangling from their ears- you turn around and try and catch up to them and ask if they mind being photographed.

Definitely the most unique bit of jewellery I have seen, and they look so good on her.

Happy Hump Day!!
Happy hump day readers! Or what we in formal circles call Wednesday! Often this can be a hard day to get through. It's mid week, you still feel like the weekend is a while away and things keep piling up that need to be done. It is all too easy to get caught up in frustrations and stress in life, but not enough time is spent stopping, being still, enjoying your own company and reminding yourself of all the little joys in life that make you happy. I've included a few visual reminders on things that make me happy below.
What are some of the things that make you smile to get you through the day?
Finding that someone has made the time to write a little note of positivity and stick it to an office block building for people to stumble on their way to work the daily grind makes me very happy inside :)
Finding that someone has left the most beautiful flower in front of graffiti in a lane way, matching the colour of the graffiti perfectly...
Discovering the tree you see everyday while waiting for your bus has suddenly produced the most beautiful deep red coloured flowers- revealing a secret of beauty from inside...
Stealing some time in your day to sit on the fake grass, soak up the sun with a good book and forget your cares as you get transported by someones words on a page...
And remembering, that even after what can sometimes appear to be a very dark day, that the sun sets on it and you have the chance to start all over again in the light!
