Highlights of MSFW- @city square runways- The Social Studio

The great thing about Melbourne Spring Fashion Week, and lets face it, there are a lot of great things...but I digress- ONE of the great things is that in the heart of the city, is a fashionable tent as I like to call it to house daily free fashion shows for Melbournian's to squeeze in on their lunch hour, or to witness while whizzing past on a tram.

So there was really no excuse not to get the chance to partake in the fashion festivities over the course of the week, and if you are like me, you find yourself running from one activity to the next.

Luckily, the giant Lavazza coffee machine served up free coffees for exhausted fashionistas during MSFW and I confess they saved my life one particular cold, blustery and exhausting day and it was nice to start off with a hot beverage and walk on in the tent and feel the anticipation build for what was going to be a rather interesting Fashion show with a difference- The Social Studio.

The Social Studio is unique in that it is a space where clothing is created by a young refugee community which transform recycled and excess manufacturing materials into original designs. They also provide training and employment opportunities within the fashion and hospitality industries which I think is great that fashion is not limited by circumstance but only imagination.

Colours that pop with neon socks made this a visual show with a youthful energy surrounding it. Flashback to the 80's and I kinda liked it!

The grand finale was a sea of colour and was greeted with applause.
